At Artemis Piercings, we believe in creating an environment that promotes inclusivity, creativity and body positivity. Whether you are a parent bringing a child for their first ear piercing, or an adult coming for your fiftieth piercing, everyone is welcome with us.
You can be assured that you'll be greeted into our studio with a smile, and we will do all we can to accommodate whatever you need. If you would like to book in just for a consultation rather than a piercing straight away, this is welcomed too. If you're not sure what you might like, we can discuss different piercings, jewellery options and anything else you'd like to know.
Once you have decided on your piercing, you will be asked to fill out a consent form. Body autonomy is important to us, so you can withdraw your consent at any time and we will stop the appointment, no questions asked. This goes for children too - once the guardian has signed the consent form, the child becomes our client and as such, is entitled to change their mind at any time during the process. If you are under 16, you must be accompanied by a parent or guardian for your piercing. We will need to see ID from both the guardian & the minor, and if the surnames differ we will need to see something which links the two of you, such as a birth certificate. ID must be physical hard copies rather than photocopies or digital images. We currently accept College ID (with date of birth printed on it), Drivers Licence, Passport, CitizenCard or any other ID card issued under the National Proof of Age Standards Scheme. Please check our Price List tab for more information regarding our age restrictions for each piercing.
Next, Hope will evaluate your anatomy for the chosen piercing, discuss the jewellery you'd like to wear both initially and in future, and will clean, measure & mark the piercing site accordingly. She can adjust the marks as many times as you like to make sure the position is to your liking & suitable for your future jewellery options. Don't be afraid to ask to move the dots! Hope will ensure you are happy, as comfortable as possible and will talk you through the piercing process as much (or as little!) as you would like.
You will be given aftercare advice as relevant to your individual piercing, including when to come back & see us to downsize your jewellery. Downsizing is important as once the initial healing period has passed and swelling has subsided, having jewellery too long can cause excess movement and issues with the piercing site. There is a £5 charge for a downsize to cover the cost of the jewellery (as with initial piercings, upgraded jewellery may be an additional cost).
We have aftercare products available for purchase and also keep an important stash of sweeties & stickers - you've earned them!
